Day 1: Gorilla Trekking Experience – Departure.
At 4:30 am, you will check out of your Kigali hotel and head to the scenic Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda’s northwest, which is a 2-hour journey away. After arriving, you will eat breakfast before going to Kinigi’s park headquarters to hear the park warden’s briefing.
The tour guide will take you to the gorilla trek’s starting site at 8:30 a.m. The gorilla groups are randomly assigned to the tourists for tracking, with the exception of certain special variables such as age. Older trackers are often assigned to a gorilla family that is thought to be quite close to the starting place. But over time, our knowledgeable guides have become experts at handling the gorillas’ movements and have built strong bonds with the park wardens. They typically speak with them ahead of time, expressing the clients’ passions and capacity to create the conditions necessary for a good gorilla trekking experience.
Depending on how the gorillas are moving, the walk could take one to six hours. It is recommended that visitors inform park wardens and guides of their ability to hike in order to be assigned to the appropriate gorilla family. On your one-day Rwanda gorilla trip, you can, nevertheless, rest confident that you will, at all costs, meet a gorilla family in the park.
