Detailed Itinerary.
Day 1: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
Our driver guide will pick you up from the airport or a hotel in Kigali to take you to Nyungwe Forest National Park, which is located in Gisenyi region southwest of Rwanda. Visit the Nyanza King’s Palace, the Butare Museum, and the site of the Mirambi Genocide while you’re there. You should then continue driving to Nyungwe Forest National Park.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking – Canopy Walk
After breakfast in the morning, proceed to the offices of Nyungwe Forest Park for an update on the chimpanzee tracking trip. Set out on this incredible exercise with your tracking gear, and you will be rewarded with a clear view of many different primate species, including the Olive Baboon, the Grey-cheeked Mangabeys, the Silver Monkey, Hamlyn’s Monkey, Red-tailed Monkey, Dent’s Mona Monkey, L’Hoest’s Monkey, and golden monkeys. After lunch in the woods, continue with the Unique Canopy Forest Walk in the afternoon. This will reward you with a full forest canopy and the opportunity to watch wildlife from above as you swing over the dense, thick trees.

Day 3: Transfer to Lake Kivu in Gisenyi.
After breakfast, proceed to Gisenyi province by car, which is home to Lake Kivu. Eat and relax at a resort in Kivu.

Day 4: Canoe Ride to Lake Kivu Islands.
Here, you will take a morning canoe journey to many islands on Lake Kivu, including the well-known Nyamirundi Island, which is renowned for its delicious coffee, after breakfast.

Day 5: Transfer to Akagera National Park
After breakfast, travel through the stunning hilly countryside of Rwanda and Tanzania to the north of the country, where Akagera National Park is located. Arriving just in time for lunch, we next go on a fantastic afternoon wildlife drive, searching for buffalo, zebras, giraffes, elephants, and the recently reintroduced lions.

Day 6: Morning Game Drive – Lake Ihema Boat Cruise
Get up early today and enjoy your morning coffee before embarking on an incredible game drive to the park’s northern region. Here, you can watch the early risers before they depart for their hideouts or perhaps start their daily hunts. Later in the afternoon, take an incredible boat ride on Lake Ihema, which will reward you with a variety of bird species and aquatic creatures like hippopotami, crocodiles, and buffaloes.

Day 7: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
After eating breakfast when you wake up, head to the Musanze province in the northwest of Rwanda to transfer to Volcanoes National Park. While travelling, take in the breathtaking vistas of the rural landscape.

Day 8: Mountain Gorilla Trek – Iby’iwacu Cultural Center
By 7:00 AM, after eating breakfast, you should be at the Kinigi Park offices in time for the morning briefing on the code of behaviour for mountain gorilla trekking. Once you’ve found the animals, carefully observe their behaviour and record it with photos and movies to save this amazing experience. After retrieving the starting location, head return to your lodge by car with your guide. You can discover more about Rwandan traditional customs by visiting the Iby’iwacu traditional Village after lunch.

Day 9: Golden Monkeys – Dian Fossey Hike – Visit to Twin Lakes
After breakfast, return the Kinigi Park offices by 7:00 AM, in time for the morning briefing on behaviour expectations when monitoring the reticent and gregarious golden monkeys. Once you’ve found the jittery animals, carefully observe their behaviour and record it with photos and videos to capture this amazing experience. Later, pick up the starting place and head back to your accommodation by car with your tour guide. After that, enjoy a guided stroll to the stunning Twin Lakes of Ruhondo and Burera.

Day 10: Return to Kigali – Departure
Upon rising, have breakfast and later set off for Kigali for drop off at either a hotel or Kigali International Airport to catch up with your flight back home.
