Volcanoes National Park is situated in Northwestern Rwanda’s Ruhengeri district, roughly two to three hours’ drive from Kigali, the country’s capital. The park takes pride in being home to twelve habituated gorilla families and is home to some of the 1063 mountain gorillas that are still alive today. On the walk itself, though, you will be paired with a group of no more than eight guests.
Detailed Itinerary.
Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
After being picked up by your tour guide, your adventure begins with a tour of Kigali’s city, where you will see memorial sites for the genocide, local markets, and craft shops. After that, you will travel for three hours to reach Volcanoes National Park, which is situated in the northern Rwandan province’s Musanze District. After a two to three-hour drive in our cosy 4×4 safari vehicle, you will meet one of our knowledgeable tour agents for a briefing and transport to Volcanoes National Park in Ruhengeri. Make sure to arrive early at your chosen gorilla safari lodge so you may have dinner and spend the night before your mountain gorilla trek the following day.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking – Visit Gorilla Guardian Village.
Get out of your lodge and get ready for a hearty meal. After that, make your way to the Kinigi to receive instructions on the rules to follow during your gorilla trekking excursion in Volcanoes National Park. A gorilla family will be assigned to you to monitor in a group of eight by the park authority. The entire gorilla hike takes two to six hours, depending on your walking pace, the gorillas’ position, and the state of the habitat. It will just take you an hour to discover more about these fascinating primates and take pictures of them before returning to the lodge.
After your gorilla hike, return to the resort to unwind and discuss your experiences. Later in the afternoon, you can anticipate participating in a cultural trip at Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village. Expect to learn in-depth details about the distinctive customs, way of life, and activities of the Rwandese while you’re here. You’ll also get to enjoy dances, musical performances, and much more. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
