The Masai Mara, with its gently rolling grasslands that ensure you may constantly sight animals, is Kenya’s finest and most remarkable wildlife sanctuary. The climate is pleasant all year round, rarely too hot, and gets uniformly spaced rainfall. The pleasure of seeing the great migration of wild animals from July to October is unparalleled. The fauna is found in far larger areas outside of the game reserve; its borders are by no means the sole ones. Centuries of intimate touch have resulted in an almost symbiotic relationship between the Masai people and the wildlife.

With its gently sloping grasslands and constant chance of seeing animals, the Masai Mara is Kenya’s best and most remarkable wildlife sanctuary. The year-round climate is temperate, rarely too hot, and provides rainfall that is dispersed equally. Seeing the great migration of wildebeest from July to October is an event that cannot be duplicated. The wildlife is spread throughout a much larger area outside the game reserve, therefore the boundaries of the Reserve are not the only places it may be found. Because of their centuries-long intimate proximity, the Masai people and wildlife cohabit in a nearly symbiotic relationship.

5 Days Tour to Masai Mara and Lake Nakuru

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi – Travel to Masai Mara

Leave your Nairobi accommodation and head to the Masai Mara Game Reserve, making a stop at the expansive Rift Valley viewpoint. Get there in time for the afternoon game drive and lunch. Stay the night at the lodge after dinner.

Day 2: Full Day in Masai Mara

Take an early game drive before breakfast after waking up to a cup of tea or coffee. Return to the campground or lodge after breakfast to have another game drive. The sighting of leopards and rhinos, the final two members of the big five, is not guaranteed because of their shyness and elusiveness. But of the big five, only the elephant, buffalo, and lion may be seen in the wild. There will be a free period following lunch at the resort during which you can visit a local masai community for an extra charge. After concluding the day with a game drive in the late afternoon or early evening, return to the lodge for dinner and the night.

Day 3: Transfer to Lake Nakuru

Leave the Mara region for Nakuru after breakfast, stopping for a picnic lunch along the way. From the main route, Mt. Longonot and Lake Naivasha are visible in the distance. Stay the night at the lodge after dinner.

Day 4: Lake Nakuru – Lake Naivasha

After breakfast, go on a wildlife drive in the adjacent Lake Nakuru National Park. Numerous bird species may be seen in the lake, including as white pelicans, marabu storks, and flamingos, which breed in its alkaline waters. White rhinos are seen, as is the rare Rothschild’s giraffe, which has translucent shanks in place of spots and five horns rather of the typical three. A trip to the baboon cliff provides breathtaking views of the lake below, which is encircled by a sizable acacia and euphorbia forest. One of the other attractions in the park is Makalia Falls. Proceed to Lake Naivasha for dinner and an overnight stay at the lodge after lunch.

Day 5: Return to Nairobi

After breakfast, head by boat to the Crescent Island Private Game Sanctuary, where you can walk amid small herds of plains game. Proceed to Nairobi, arriving in the evening after lunch in Naivasha. Delivered to your lodging.
